Accreditation and or Recognition Application

An overview of the typical path that a program takes to become BTMAC accredited or recognized.

Recognition

Step 1

Are you ready for Recognition?  – you can start anytime

  • Read through the criteria document and consider your eligibility
  • Begin working on the self study questionnaire
  • Inform the BTMAC Secretariat that you are starting the recognition process by submitted a Request for Recognition
  • The BTMAC Secretariat will identify the team chair and team members

Step 2 

Complete and submit your questionnaire

  • Complete and submit your questionnaire to the BTMAC Secretariat
  • Questionnaire and related materials are submitted to the team for review to assess completeness of the materials
  • Additional materials are provided by the school if required

Step 3

Report Preparation – Two months after the submission of the questionnaire

  • BTMAC formally communicates the team’s findings in the draft report to the institution
  • The program formally responds to the draft report.
  • Conclusion of the process

Step 4

Accreditation Decision – No later than four months after the submission of the questionnaire

BTMAC meets to decide recognition actions. Programs are formally notified with receipt of the final report.

Accreditation

Step 1

Are you ready for Accreditation? – At least four months prior to a visit

  • Read through the criteria document and consider your eligibility
  • Begin working on the self study questionnaire and collect examples of student work, such as syllabi, textbooks, and sample assignments, to display for the review team to examine
  • Inform the BTMAC Secretariat that you are starting the accreditation process by submitted a Request for Accreditation
  • The BTMAC Secretariat will identify the team chair and team members and set the visit date

Step 2 

Complete and submit your questionnaire – At least two months prior to a visit

  • Complete and submit your questionnaire and draft visit agenda to the BTMAC Secretariat
  • Questionnaire and related materials are submitted to the team for review to assess completeness of the materials
  • Additional materials are provided by the school if required
  • To Go/No Go is decided based on the available materials
  • Team travel arrangements are made

Step 3

Logistics – At least one months prior to a visit

  • On-site logistical planning begins. Rooms should be set up for the review team with the display materials, the visit schedule should be finalized, and student and faculty interviews should be arranged.

Step 4

On Site Visit

  • Typically lasts two days. It includes a review of your materials; interviews with students; faculty, staff and administrators; and concludes with an exit interview with the senior administrators where the team will convey its findings.

Step 5

  • BTMAC formally communicates the team’s findings in the draft report to the institution
  • The program formally responds to the draft report.
  • Conclusion of the process

Step 6

Accreditation Decision – No later than four months after the visit
